At least 10,003 people have now died after testing positive for coronavirus in Spain, according to Spanish Health Ministry data released Thursday.
The grim milestone was passed after 950 new deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours — the highest single-day increase the country has seen.
However, the 10.5% rise is similar to Wednesday’s increase and smaller in percentage terms than any recorded in the past two weeks.
Spain is one of the world’s worst-hit countries, trailing only Italy in total deaths from Covid-19, and behind Italy and the United States in total reported cases.
