Mohammadi Group Managing Director (MD) Rubana Huq is going to be elected as the first female president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Sammilito Forum, the panel she led, secured win in the biennial election by large margin.
The voting took place from 8am to 4pm Saturday (April 6).
Panel leader Rubana bagged 1,280 votes while MA Rahim from the same panel got 1,395 votes.
Jahangir Alam of the election steering committee announced the results as the counting ended, at the night.
A total of 1,492 votes were cast out of 1,956 votes, in the polls, said election commissioner Nihad Kabir.
The winning directors will elect the new president and vice president of BGMEA on April 18.
