India reported a daily jump of 57,981 infections, taking the total to nearly 2.65 million, third only behind the United States and Brazil.
The death toll jumped by 941 in the last 24 hours, with the total of 50,921 in the country.
The country last week overtook Britain with the world’s fourth-highest number of deaths, behind the United States, Brazil and Mexico, and has recorded 2.6 million infections.
