Bangladesh has received the ‘Best Foreign Participant Award’ in Nigeria international trade fair in which the high commission took part for the first time.
The high commission said they put up a large stall with export items in line with the government’s focus on ‘economic diplomacy’, the high commission said.
Minister for Industry and Trade Okechukwu Enyinna Enelama inaugurated the Kaduna International Trade Fair on Mar 29 organised by Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
Bangladesh High Commissioner in Abuja Md Shameem Ahsan received the ‘Best Foreign Participant Award’ for the ‘Bangladesh Stall’ and a crest was handed over ceremonially on the concluding day on April 7 by Abidul Yazid, Patron of the Trade Fair.
Pharmaceuticals, ceramics, jute and leather products, RMG and knitwear, tea, jute leaf tea, electrical appliances, light engineering, plastic & melamine products, spice & curry powder, pickle, food items, snacks, pearl items, sari (maslin, silk), nakshi kantha, handicrafts, among others, were on display which drew huge crowd each day.
The deputy governor of Kaduna along with the chamber president and other dignitaries visited the stall and admired the quality of Bangladeshi products.
Publications on export and investment and tourism potentials, among others, were also on display.
Roll-up-banners containing pictorial description of the impressive achievements of Bangladesh at home and abroad were put around the pavilion.
Documentaries on the development journey of Bangladesh were screened simultaneously.
The high commission said they are also in the process of launching a ‘Commercial Display Centre’ at the chancery soon to showcase the export items to importers and investors of Nigeria which is the largest economy of Africa and the sixth largest producer of oil in the world having a population of 200 million people.
