Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
― Mother Teresa
When Me and my parents first met Minara she was a happy lady with a beautiful 3 years old daughter and a very hard working husband who was making his earning by repairing the broken parts of Ricksha .( The transport vehicle for Bangladesh)for his living . In Bangladesh the male workers mainly dominate their family , they work and their spouse take care of the house hold perhaps that was the same story for Minara.
On the the other hand me and my parents were very busy in organising our non profit organisation ANDRA . ANDRA stands for association for nutrition development and rural advancement . It was very difficult for us to get the registration from the government of Bangladesh due to the rules and restriction the government had for the NGO Burro . We were trying very hard to arrange funds to start our small project for the physically challenged people . I managed a very small fund from a missionary to start our show about the Physically challenged people ‘ The golden boat.’
Being very tired and frustrated one day we were sitting together in our house and discussing about the future of Andra and her activities , mission , vision etc . Suddenly I saw MInara came over and we were very shocked to see her crying in deep distress . She told us that one csr hit there husband and ran away immediately . She took her husband to the hospital but no hope . Mianar’s
husband died leaving behind the helpless wife and a daughter with no money .
I told my parents that we must do some thing for her . Even though our NGO was very small at that time with a very little donation we decided to buy her the tools and a small shop where she could work independently like her husband and support her daughter .
Time flew very fast and one day I was passing by Minar’s little shop for the maintenance of the Ricksha. I saw her very happy and she told me that her daughter is now going to school . She was making enough money to support her and her daughter . Tears came to her eyes when she hugged me saying that how grateful she was to us for what we did . For me no words for her but a long way to go for many Minars to make happy and independent .
