Back in August, Spotify secured a major partnership as Samsung’s go-to music provider.
That power couple gets serious on Friday (Mar 8), with the announcement that Spotify will now be pre-installed on the newest Samsung mobile devices, allowing listeners to start using the app as soon as they unbox their new phone.
“We were very excited to be named Samsung’s go-to music streaming service several months ago and today’s news will only ensure a more seamless Spotify listening experience across devices for listeners around the world,” said Spotify’s vp of consumer products, Sten Garmark. “This partnership makes it easy for Samsung mobile users to access their favorite music and podcasts on Spotify, wherever they are and however they choose to listen.”
Those devices include the new Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, S10 5G, Galaxy Fold and select Galaxy A Series phones. In addition, some new Spotify consumers in the U.S. with select Samsung Galaxy phones will qualify for six free months of Spotify Premium, redeemable in the app.
As part of the team-up, Spotify is also deeply integrated with Samsung’s voice assistant, Bixby — meaning that when users ask for music through Bixby, Spotify will be the default app for playback.
