The government has started giving an incentive of two percent in remittance sent by expatriate Bangladeshi to encourage them sending money through legal channels, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said.
“It has been made effective since July 1, 2019,” the minister said this after the 20th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase at the meeting room of the Cabinet on Wednesday (October 2).
Later, Bangladesh Bank has also issued a press statement on the issue.
The finance minister said, “We have announced has proposed an incentive of two percent on money remitted by expatriate Bangladeshi to encourage bringing in foreign remittance through legal channels.
“Now, the banks will give 2 percent incentive for sending remittance through it. I would like to inform those who are sending remittances; they will not lose their previous incentive”, he added.
