Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said Rohingya trafficking is not happening that much now except for some small occurrences which were tackled with an iron fist in the past.
The minister told reporters after emerging from a meeting with United Nations Secretary General’s special envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Pattern at his secretariat office on Tuesday (February 12).
The minister said, “We’re looking into all other issues with due care and continuing our talks with Myanmar at all possible levels.”
“Rohingyas went through sexual torture when they were in Rakhine State of Myanmar. They have no problems here at all. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving them shelter and food,” Anisul said.
In addition, he said, “We are trying to lessen the traumas of Rohingyas living in Bangladesh. We are taking measures, as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, so that Rohingyas live at some ease here.”
The minister said the discussion was fruitful.
