Bangladesh clinched the championship of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Space Apps Challenge, the biggest hackathon in the world.
‘Team Olik’ from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) beat top four teams from US, Malaysia and Japan to secure the win under “Best Use of Data” category.
Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) Public Relations & Media Affairs Executive Officer and NASA Space Apps Challenge Md Wasek Sajjad, in a press release, confirmed the matter Sunday (Feb 17).
As many as 2,729 teams from different countries participated in the hackathon.
‘Team Olik’ presented a virtual reality application named “Lunar VR Project” in the contest. It enables the user to get the feel of traveling in moon virtually.
Six champion teams under six categories of the hackathon will be privileged to visit NASA and work as apprentice for some days.
