New Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das will arrive in Dhaka on March 1 (Friday) to join her office.
She will replace outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
Diplomatic sources from New Delhi confirmed the development.
Prior to the present assignment, Riva Ganguly has been discharging her duties as Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR),
Riva Ganguly obtained her master’s degree in political science from Delhi University and later joined in the university as lecturer in 1986 prior to joining the Indian foreign service.
Before joining as Director General of ICCR, she was Consul General of India in New York.
She has also served as head of the cultural wing of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Shringla has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the United States of America, replacing Navtej Sarna. He has left Dhaka on January 7 and already taken up his new assignment.
